Trash-Free ShoreRivers

Be a steward - pick up some trash!

Use of public spaces is up 140% this year, and unfortunately with that increase in usage, comes an increase in trash. ShoreRivers is pleased to announce Trash-Free ShoreRivers, an extension of our Don’t Paddle Past It campaign generously funded by the Maryland Environmental Trust’s Keep Maryland Beautiful program.

From now until September, ShoreRivers will provide trash bags, gloves, and limited edition stickers for clean water advocates who clean up trash from their local public spaces. Contact Connor Liu (cliu@shorerivers.org) to pick up supplies (including stickers!) from our Easton, Chestertown, or Galena offices.

Here's how it works:

  1. Head down to your local park or other spots with trash

  2. Pick up trash and take a photo

  3. Post on your social media accounts with the hashtag #trashfreeshorerivers

  4. Remember to tag @shorerivers on Facebook or @shoreriversorg on Instagram

  5. Send your photo to cliu@shorerivers.org to be featured on our ShoreRivers accounts

  6. Enjoy the sense of stewardship you have for our local waterways

  7. Repeat!

Thank you for your help cleaning our waterways, and please spread the word.

NOTE: ShoreRivers strongly encourages all participants to follow the latest health department guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, including, but not limited to social distancing, wearing masks, and frequently washing hands.
