As Membership Manager, Courtney works on our development team managing our membership stewardship and assisting with events and communications.
Courtney came to ShoreRivers in 2018 after working 11 years with the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) in Grasonville. At CBEC, she served in many different roles engaging citizens of all ages in environmental education and stewardship. Courtney has a degree in marine biology from Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania, and has experience in field research and outdoor environmental education in Pacific Temperate, Caribbean Tropic, and Mid-Atlantic Estuarine environs. She has taught in the public and private school sectors for Pre-K through college. She is a certified Interpretive Guide from the National Association of Interpretation and American Canoe Association Kayak Instructor Level 2.
Courtney and her husband, Tom (former Miles-Wye Riverkeeper), with their two daughters, Sadie and Teagan, live on the shores of the Wye River in Queenstown. In her free time, Courtney gets outside for triathlons, kayaking, hiking, and camping. She loves connecting with her community as a volunteer with several nonprofits, including serving on the board of the League of Women Voters of Queen Anne's County.
